Responsibilities: - Responsible for managing a company's overall operations including delegating and directing agendas, driving profitability, managing company organizational structure, and strategy, and communicating with the board.
- Monitoring the progress of projects and providing feedback to writers on topics such as content quality, tone, and consistency with the publication’s style guidelines.
- Managing and overseeing the editorial staff including hiring new employees, evaluating their performance, and providing training and feedback.
- Create content planning for platform (website and social media).
- Communicating with writers on topics such as upcoming deadlines, feedback on drafts of articles or book chapters, and changes in the scope or direction of projects.
- Reviewing and approving articles for publication, which may involve editing for style, grammar, spelling, or other elements of structure or content.
- Determining the type of editorial content that should be featured in the publication, including articles, reviews, interviews, and other types of content.
- Evaluating and accepting or rejecting submissions based on their merit, relevance to the publication’s mission, and adherence to style guidelines.
- Managing the publication’s budget by negotiating rates with freelance writers, assigning work to staff writers, and acquiring rights to publishing images or other content from outside sources.
- Reviewing and approving artwork, illustrations, or other visual elements for publication in the publication’s pages.
- Coordinating with advertising staff to design ads that will be effective in promoting products.
